Men’s Tennis Falls to South Alabama in First Home Match

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's tennis team dropped its first home decision of the season to South Alabama, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon at Lakeshore Tennis Center.
The Jaguars (3-3, 0-0 Sun Belt) claimed the doubles point with two 6-1 victories by Loic Cloes/Clement Marzol and Louis Delcour/Martin Bugaj over Roman Postolka/Michal Lusovsky and Daniel Janko/Giovani Pasini, respectively.
USA took a 2-0 lead with a court three singles victory by Sebastien Collard over Janko, 6-2, 6-1 before getting one point away from a win as Marzol overcame Postolka, 6-4, 6-2 on court one.
South Alabama clinched the match on court six with a Philip Bosman win over Nikolai Puric, 7-5, 6-1.
Courts two, four and five also saw Jaguar victories. Bugaj topped Vojtech Podzemny, 7-5, 7-6 (5), 1-0 (7) in the No. 5 slot, Delcour bested Thanos Spyropolous, 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (6) on court four and Cloes beat Lusovsky, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 on court two.
UAB (1-2, 0-0 C-USA) returns to the courts on Wednesday as the Blazers play host to Tennessee State (0-1, 0-0 OVC). First serve is scheduled for noon at the UAB Campus Courts.
