Blazers Hit East Coast for Old Dominion Series

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's basketball team hits the East Coast for a two-game Conference USA matchup at Old Dominion on Friday and Saturday in Norfolk, Va.
Tipoff on Friday is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. CST and 3 p.m. CST on Saturday in Chartway Arena. Both games will air on CUSA.TV.
UAB LATELY
UAB (7-11, 2-10 C-USA) is coming off an 0-2 series against Louisiana Tech in Bartow Arena.
Junior Margaret Whitley continues to lead UAB in scoring, averaging 21.6 points a contest, and from behind the arc.
Whitley leads C-USA in 3-point field goals made (61), which also ranks No. 5 in the NCAA.
Despite only playing in the last 10 games this season because of injury, freshman Lindsey Dullard ranks No. 3 on the team in scoring, averaging more than eight points a game. She has started the last six games.
Dullard and senior Zakyia Weathersby are the only two Blazers with double doubles this season.
THE SERIES
The Blazers have won the last four matchups against the Monarchs (6-8, 3-7 C-USA).
The last time the two teams met was March 5, 2020, when then-senior Leah Kerstein hit a three-point basket with 0.4 seconds left in overtime that gave UAB an 64-61 victory. That was Old Dominion's first home loss of the 2020 season.
Coach Randy Norton holds an 6-2 record over the Monarchs.
REBOUNDING WEATHERSBY
Weathersby leads C-USA in rebounding, averaging 11.67 boards a game, which ranks No. 12 in the NCAA. The senior has posted a total of 210 rebounds this season.
Weathersby is also second in field goal percentage in the conference, averaging 55.6%.
