UAB Track and Field Announces 2021-2022 Schedule

BIRMINGHAM- The UAB Track and Field team and head coach Kurt Thomas announced the 2021-2022 schedule on Tuesday.
"We are excited to start our competition season and get back to some normalcy from last year. Said Coach Thomas. "We have an exciting indoor and outdoor schedule set up. We are competing at meets that will challenge us, allow is to see some conference teams, but also teams outside of our region and Power 5 teams. The goal is to prepare us to be at our best for the C-USA indoor and outdoor championships."
The Blazers open the season in Birmingham versus cross town rival Birmingham Southern this Friday, December 3.
UAB hosts the Blazer Invitational on January 14 at the Birmingham CrossPlex for the 11th straight season. The next day, January 15, UAB will host the Vulcan Invite at the same venue.
"We are eager to compete this Friday at the Birmingham Southern meet. We look forward to hosting our 10th annual Blazer Invite in January. We get to travel to Boston and compete at Harvard and Boston U again this year. Those two meets have always treated us well and we've competed well there." added Thomas. "We are again hosting the CUSA Indoor championship meet February 20-21."
UAB will go across town to compete in the Samford Multi on January 20, and the Samford Invite on January 21.
The Blazers will go to Cambridge, MA to compete against Harvard in the Harvard Crimson Elite versus the titular university on February 4. The following day, the Blazers will be in Boston, MA in the Boston University Scarlet and White.
On February 12, The Blazers will take on Samford University again in the Samford open in Birmingham.
For the 11th year in a row, UAB will host the Conference USA Indoor Championships on February 19-20 at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Coach Thomas said, "After a break for training, we'll prepare for our outdoor season, but not before being the host school for the NCAA Indoor Championships again. We start our outdoor season in Atlanta at Georgia Tech in March. We'll take a large squad to Raleigh Relays for a big meet. We get to host back-to-back home meets April 1-2 and 7-9. We'll travel to Auburn, Alabama, and Mississippi State for great competition to close our regular season. The CUSA outdoor meet is at UTSA this year and we'll look to continue the success we've had the past few years."
The NCAA Indoor Championships will be in Birmingham, AL, on March 11-12.
The Outdoor Schedule begins in Atlanta, Georgia in the Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Invite, March 18-19.
The next week, the Blazers will be in Raleigh, North Carolina in the Raleigh Relays at NC State.
After that, UAB will be back home hosting the UAB Spring Invite on April 1-2, and the UAB Green and Gold Invite and Multi April 7-9.
For the rest of the outdoor season, the Blazers will be on the road. April 15-16, UAB will be in Auburn, Alabama at the War Eagle Invite.
April 22-23, The Blazers will be in Tuscaloosa, AL at the Alabama Crimson Classic.
The next week, UAB will be in Starkville, MS at the Mississippi State Invite on April 29-30.
At the end of the regular season, The Blazers will be at the Conference USA Outdoor Championships will be held in San Antonio, Texas on May 12-15.
The NCAA East Prelims will be held in Bloomington, Indiana May 25-28, and the NCAA Finals will be held in Eugene, Oregon June 8-11.
