Torman Posts Career High in Saves in 3-1 Loss at No. 10 Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The UAB men's soccer team suffered a 3-1 defeat to No. 10 Kentucky on Sunday night at the Wendell Vickie Bell Soccer Complex.
UAB goalkeeper Seth Torman kept the Blazers in the match in the second stanza, finishing with a career-high 11 saves. Torman made nine of his 11 saves in the second half, which included snagging a would-be goal for the Wildcats right off the goal line.
After Kentucky (7-0-2, 1-0-2 C-USA) fired home the opening goal just over two minutes into the match, freshman Curtis DeLeon fired home his second goal of the season to tie the match at 1-1 in the sixth minute. Teodor Thorvaldsen played in a cross from the left flank to Curtis' brother, Shane DeLeon, in the 18-yard box before Shane laid off the pass for Curtis' finish from the left side of the 6-yard box.
UAB's goal early in the first half was only the third first-half goal the No. 10 Wildcats have allowed this season. The Blazers built on their early pressure when leading goal scorer Nathaniel St. Louis blasted a shot from outside the 18-yard box, forcing Kentucky goalkeeper Jan Hoffelner to tip the shot over the crossbar.
Kentucky's Daniel Evans registered the winning goal right before the halftime break, firing home a shot from inside the box in the 42nd minute.
The Wildcats added their third goal of the match off a corner kick in the 84th minute, pushing the contest to its final score.
The Blazers (2-7, 0-2 C-USA) will return home on Wednesday for their final nonconference matchup of the season against FGCU. Kickoff at BBVA Field is set for 5 p.m.
