BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's soccer team returns home on Friday night to face North Texas. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
UAB LATELY
UAB is coming off a three straight overtime matches. In its last match at Rice, Stella Kiss got the Blazers the equalizer in the 52nd minute, but the Owls' Delaney Schultz scored the golden goal 96 seconds into overtime.
NORTH TEXAS LATELY
The Mean Green (7-3-3, 2-2-1 C-USA) received two votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll. UNT is coming off a 5-0 victory against FIU on Oct. 8. North Texas' Madison Drenowatz is tied for second in C-USA with seven goals. Taylor Tufts leads the league with eight assists. Tufts' 18 points is third in C-USA and Drenowatz's 14 points ranks tied for fourth. Keeper Sarah Fuller leads the league with 63 saves. Her GAA of 0.85 is fourth in the league.
THE SERIES VS. NORTH TEXAS
The teams have met seven times, with North Texas holding a 5-2-0 advantage. The teams have split the last two meetings.
COMMON OPPONENTS
The teams have five common opponents this season – LA Tech, Rice, Southern Miss, UTSA and UTEP.
PROMOTIONS
Friday's match is the annual Bark in the Park match. Fans are invited to bring their pups to the match. Pets will be allowed in the far left bleacher section only. All pet owners will check in at the marketing table and sign a waiver upon arrival. There will be a halftime drawing for UAB pet supplies.
UP NEXT
The Blazers hit the road to face Middle Tennessee on Oct. 17. This match is not part of the Conference USA East/West crossover and will not be counted in the league standings.
