BIRMINGHAM – The Phil Steele Publication announced on Tuesday that long snapper Jacob Fuqua and linebacker Kristopher Moll have been named 2020 All-Americans.
Fuqua was a Fourth Team All-America honoree and Moll an Honorable Mention All-America selection. These two join Ty Long (2011) as the second and third Phil Steele All-Americans in program history and become the eighth and ninth All-Americans ever at UAB.
Fuqua graduates as the most decorated long snapper in program history. Fuqua was a 2020 First Team-All Conference USA selection, Conference USA All-Academic honoree, and a semifinalist for the Patrick Mannelly Award, which is given to the nation's top long snapper.
He finished the 2020 campaign with two tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He also helped place kicker Matt Quinn finish 10-of-11 on field goal attempts and 31-of-32 on point after attempts. Additionally, punter Kyle Greenwell averaged 42.6 yards per punt as UAB ranked 29th in net punting.
Moll was also a First Team All-Conference USA selection and led the Blazers in tackles for a second straight year. Despite missing one game, Moll had a team-high 59 tackles, along with 4.0 TFL, 2.0 sacks, two pass breakups and six quarterback hurries.
These two led UAB to its C-USA record third straight C-USA West Division title and its second league championship in the last three years. The Blazers have won a league-high 34 games since returning to action in 2017.
