Trio of Blazers Earn Top-10 Finishes in Day One of Bob Pollock Invite

Clemson, S.C. — The UAB track and field team returned to action on Saturday at the Bob Pollock Invitational hosted by Clemson.
"We had some good performances today in the pentathlon and 400 meter," head coach Kurt Thomas said.
Brittany Floyd began the day with the pentathlon. She set a personal record in the 60 meter hurdles in the first event completing the event in 8.91 seconds to take the early lead. Floyd finished the pentathlon in fifth-place with 2973 points.
In the 400 meter, senior Lisa Petkov set an indoor personal record with a time of 55.97 to finish in fifth-place. Petkov moves to third-place in indoor school history.
Karri Green placed seventh in the event with a time of 56.32 and moves into fourth-place in school history. Lovisa Skoglund also set a personal record in the event with a time of 57.31.
In the weight throw, freshman Birthe Franck-Petersen finished with a mark of 14.69 meters to place 15th.
"We still have things to work on, but the team competed well," added Thomas. "We have some important races, jumps and throws tomorrow to take care of."
The Blazers return for day two of the invite tomorrow morning. The first event for UAB is scheduled to begin at 10:30 ET with the shot put.
