Rifle Travels North for Weekend Doubleheader

BIRMINGHAM – After an 83-day hiatus from competitions due to COVID-19, the UAB rifle team returns to the range for two matches this weekend in Murray, Ky. and Martin, Tenn.
"I am ready, and I know our team is ready, to get back to the range this weekend," said head coach Lori Goodwin. "We will see a lot of good competition and it will be great to get going again."
The Blazers fire off the weekend at Murray State on Friday, with a start time set for 2 p.m. UAB will face exclusively Top-20 teams, including No. 2 Kentucky, No. 6 Memphis, No. 8 Nebraska, No. 10 Murray State, No. 14 NC State, No. 16 Jacksonville State and No. 17 North Georgia. The match will serve as UAB's designated conference game against North Georgia.
The Green and Gold will take on No. 20 UT Martin on Saturday at in a non-conference match. UAB fell to the Skyhawks last season, 4573-4553.
Sophomore Amy Kohan leads the squad in aggregate score (1150.5) and air rifle score (585.0), while junior Zoe Lum paces the team in smallbore score (566.0).
Following this weekend's matches, UAB returns to the range on Jan. 30 at The Citadel.
