Men’s Golf Sits in Second After Day One of Graeme McDowell Invite

BIRMINGHAM – Three UAB men's golfers shot under par on the first day of the Graeme McDowell to lead the Blazers through 36 holes at Greystone Country Club on Tuesday.
UAB shot 285 (-3) in the opening round and 284 (-4) in the second round, and sits in second place at -7 entering Wednesday's final 18 holes. The Blazers have to catch Georgia Southern (-10) in order to win their third straight tournament to open the season.
Senior William Walker III shot 69-71 and is tied for third overall at -4, which was the low score for UAB on Tuesday. Both Khavish Varadan (70-72) and Ethan Hagood (72-70) shot two-under and are tied for eighth overall.
After an opening round 75, Nick Robillard shot a one-under 71 in the second round and is tied for 22nd entering Wednesday's finale. Robillard has finished top five in each of his first two tournaments this year.
Drew Mathers (74-74, +4) is tied for 29th overall and Sam Jeffcoat (80-73, +9) is tied for 47th to round out UAB's lineup.
Playing as individuals, John Snoddy (+5) is tied for 33rd, John Racciatti (+7) is tied for 40th and Alfie Fox (+14) is tied for 62nd.
Mason Williams of Georgia Southern has the individual lead at -6 and is followed by Guillaume Fanonnel of ULM (-5) and Walker III.
