Blazers Take Home the Title at John ‘Doc’ Anderson Invite

TROY, Ala. — Powered by four Top 10 finishes, the Blazers took home the team title at the John 'Doc' Anderson Invite Saturday morning.
"Overall, we had a lot better efforts," said head coach Matt Esche. "We did a better job at being assertive in the middle."
This marks the first time since the 2017 at the Memphis Twilight UAB has taken home a team title. In 2014, they also took home the Azalea City Classic team title.
Lauren Robinson, Kathleen Schellman, Isabel Valenzuela and Laura Thompson had top-10 finishes to lead the Blazers to the title scoring 37 points.
Individually, Robinson placed second to lead the way for the Green and Gold, her career best finish. Schellman (seventh-place), Valenzuela (eighth-place) Thompson (ninth-place) rounded out the top-10.
Britney Johnson (11th) Alicia Abalos Cervera (20th) and Gracie Sears (25th) rounded out the top-seven finishes for the Blazers.
As a team, the Blazers were close with Troy all morning. In the end, UAB pulled away due to a tie break.
"We are excited about where we are going from here," said Esche.
Up next, UAB heads to Tallahassee, Fla. for the Florida State Invitational on Oct. 2. Meet information will be provided at a later time.
