Blazers Head to Tallahassee for Florida State Invitational

BIRMINGHAM — Coming off a win at the John 'Doc' Anderson Invitational, the Blazers look to continue the momentum at the Florida State Invitational at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla. on Friday. The women's 5k event is scheduled to begin at 7:10 am CST, UAB's race is scheduled to start at 8:05 am CST.
"We have a tremendous field that is really going to push us," said head coach Matt Esche. "The girls have done a good job at working on the little details on a course that is going to challenge us."
Joining UAB in the stacked field include Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Florida State, Boston College, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Miami (FL), FIU, Southern Miss, Mercer and South Alabama.
The last time out the Blazers took home the team title at the John 'Doc' Anderson Invitational led by Lauren Robinson's second-place finish. Kathleen Schellman, Isabel Valenzuela, Laura Thompson, Britney Johnson, Alicia Abalos Cervera and Gracie Sears rounded out the top-seven finishes for UAB with a total team score of 37 points.
