Tia Teiniketo Earns Conference USA Golfer of the Week

BIRMINGHAM – After a second place finish at the Hoover Invitational, senior Tia Teiniketo has been named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week.
Teiniketo had a tremendous week and was one of only two golfers to finish under par at Hoover Country Club. She improved every round by shooting 73-72-70 to finish at -1 for the tournament.
"Ever since our season was cut short last year, Tia has been determined to make the most of this year," Head Coach Ryan Ashburn said. "We are very happy she decided to stay an extra year and I couldn't be more proud of her. She has worked extremely hard for this."
Teiniketo led the Blazers to a fourth place team finish at the Hoover Invitational and UAB is now 8-6-1 overall through two tournaments.
The reigning Conference USA Most Improved Golfer of the Year, Teiniketo is off to a tremendous start in her super senior year with two top 10 finishes. Prior to last week's second place finish, she tied for eighth in UAB's first tournament of the season.
The Blazers are off until Oct. 12-13 when they travel to Jonesboro, Ark. for the Lady Redwolves Intercollegiate hosted by Arkansas State.
