UAB Women’s Golf Tied for Fourth After Day One of Hoover Invite

HOOVER, Ala. – The UAB women's golf team is currently tied for fourth after the first two rounds of the Hoover Invitational.
The Blazers shot a 296 in the opening round and a 299 in the second round and are +19 overall for the tournament. WKU (+6) is leading the field, while the University of Indianapolis (+11), Southern Illinois (+16), Chattanooga and UAB (+19) round out the top five.
Senior Tia Teiniketo and freshman Shelly Chen led the Blazers on Monday as Teiniketo (+1) is in sixth place while Chen (+2) is tied for seventh. Teiniketo shot a one-over 73 in the opening round and an even par 72 in the second round. Chen shot consecutive 73's for her score of two-over.
Junior Stephenie Fowler was UAB's third finisher and is tied for 19th heading into the final round after shooting a +6. Fowler was two-over in the first round and shot a four-over 76 in the second round.
Freshman Emilia Smith (+10, T35) and sophomore Caroline Waldrop (+18, 59th) rounded out UAB's efforts on Monday.
Playing as individuals, Lexie Dawson is tied for 31st (+9), Marilyn Steed is 57th (+15) and Karlee Allen is tied for 60th (+20).
