UAB, Robillard Leads After Round Two of Jim Rivers Intercollegiate

RUSTON, La. – The UAB men's golf team will take a seven stroke lead into Tuesday's final round of the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate after dominating the field on Monday at Squire Creek Club in Ruston.
All six UAB golfers shot even or under par in the second round en route to a collective score of 275 (-13). The Blazers are -17 under for the tournament and have a seven shot advantage over Texas State (-10).
Junior Nick Robillard continues to lead the field and followed up his opening round 67 with a four-under 68 on Monday. He is -9 overall and is looking for a wire-to-wire individual victory on Tuesday.
Robillard has a four shot lead over teammate Drew Mathers who is in second place overall at -5. Mathers had an outstanding second round with a seven-under 65, which moved him up 26 places into second. His 65 is tied for the 13 lowest round in program history. Mathers had an eagle, six birdies and one bogey during Monday's second round.
William Walker III is the third Blazer in the top five as he sits tied for fifth overall at -2. Walker III shot even par on Monday and is tied with six other golfers for fifth.
Sophomore Ethan Hagood shot a one-under 71 in round two and is at even par for the tournament, which has him tied for 14th place overall. Hagood moved up eight places on Monday.
Freshman Khavish Varadan and junior Ben Reichert each moved up 22 spots on Monday, and like Hagood, shot a one-under 71. They are both +4 for the tournament and tied for 30th overall.
Following UAB (-17) and Texas State (-10), ULM (-4), South Alabama (-2) and Arkansas Little Rock (-1) round out the top five.
If the Blazers can hold on for the team victory, it would be their first since winning the Loyola Intercollegiate on Feb. 25, 2019.
