BIRMINGHAM — UAB Assistant Coach Jordon Andreassen was announced as part of the 2020-21 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Female Coaching Mentorship Program.
The mentorship program was started by the USTFCCCA in 2018 as a way to increase representation, depth of knowledge and advancement for female coaches in cross country and track & field at every level. The program aims to advance the depth of female coaching experience by pairing individuals up with a 1-on-1 year-round mentorship with a senior coach in order to develop a holistic self-reflection.
"I am honored and excited to be a part of this growing program," said Andreassen. "Being able to not only connect with other female coaches but being able to share experience, exchange knowledge and empower each other only strengthens the representation of female coaches in the track & field and cross country world. I am thankful for this program that I am able to empower another female coach."
Andreassen joined the UAB track and field program in 2018 after spending the previous five seasons at Graceland University. With the Yellowjackets, she coached over 80 Heart of America Athletic Conference point scorers, six conference champions and two All-American Indoor and Outdoor athletes.
For the Blazers, she works primarily with the multi and field events. Andreasen holds a Bachelor of Arts in liberal arts science and Master of Science in sport management.
