UAB Rifle Places Third at Jacksonville State

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - The No. 20 UAB rifle team finished third of four on Saturday in Jacksonville, Ala., falling to No. 13 Jacksonville State and The Citadel, while besting The Citadel's women's squad.
The Blazers shot 2243 in smallbore and 2318 in air rifle for an aggregate score of 4561, while the Gamecocks finished on top (4643) and The Citadel notched second (4576). The Bulldog women finished the match in fourth place with an aggregate score of 4288.
Sophomore Amy Kohan paced the Blazers with the fourth-highest aggregate score (1151) among all teams, while also shooting a team-high and second-best overall 590 in air rifle.
Tommy Loring shot 564 in smallbore to lead the Green and Gold and finish eighth overall in the discipline, while Zoe Lum placed right behind him in ninth with a score of 563. Lum also finished in the top-10 in air rifle as she shot a 578 to place sixth. Sophia Flores rounded out Blazers in the air rifle top-10, notching ninth (578).

UAB will now set its sights on the new year, as the Blazers return to the range on Jan. 16 at Wofford with a start time set for 7 a.m. from Spartanburg.
