BIRMINGHAM – The No. 20 UAB rifle team returns to action for the final time before the calendar flips to 2021 as it takes on No. 13 Jacksonville State in Jacksonville, Ala. on Saturday at 1 p.m.
"I am ready to see our team in competition on Saturday," head coach Lori Goodwin said. "We have had a little bit of a break in between matches, so I know our student-athletes are ready to get back to competing and we look forward to doing that at Jacksonville State."
UAB (1-0, 1-0 SoCon) is set to participate in its second match of the fall, while the Gamecocks, (7-8, 1-2 OVC) look to follow up a season-high 4659-4578 win against UT Martin.
Eight Blazers will make the short trip to Jacksonville, as Sophia Flores, Amy Kohan, Zoe Lum, Maggie Vonderau, Jordan Blankenship, Tommy Loring, Claire Vonderau and Taylor Jones will all see the range on Saturday.
The Blazers claimed their first win of the 2020-21 campaign on Oct. 31 at Georgia Southern, 4572-4542, as Kohan paced the Green and Gold with an aggregate score of 1150. Kohan also led UAB in smallbore score (570), while Lum tallied a team-high 581 in air rifle.
Following Saturday's match, UAB returns to the range on Jan. 16 in Spartanburg, S.C. to take on conference foe Wofford with a start time set for 7 a.m.
