Tia Teiniketo Earns Conference USA Golfer of the Week

BIRMINGHAM – For shooting a school-record 66 in the final round of the Callaway Gardens Invite and winning the individual title, senior Tia Teiniketo has been named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week.
Teiniketo was near the top of the leaderboard all week, but erupted in Wednesday's final round to set the new school record for the lowest 18 hole score with a 66. She had six birdies compared to one bogey in her round.
This is Teiniketo's second Conference USA Golfer of the Week award of the season as she also earned it on Sept. 24. The league's reigning Most Improved Golfer has been playing lights out this season, averaging a team-best 71.8 stroke average and notching three Top 10 finishes.
The victory this weekend in Georgia was her second career individual title. Last season, Teiniketo won the USA Intercollegiate by shooting a school-record 204 (-12).
UAB is now off until the spring when they start their championship season at the Winter Warm Up hosted by Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Fla. on Feb. 8-9.
