UAB Women’s Soccer Opens Fall Season at Mercer on Saturday

BIRMINGHAM – It has been 350 days since the UAB Women's Soccer team has played in a head-to-head competition. The Blazers officially open the Fall 2020 campaign tomorrow evening when they travel to Macon, Ga. to face Mercer (1-3-1). Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Betts Stadium.
THE SERIES 🆚
Saturday's match will mark the fifth time the Blazers and Bears have faced each other. UAB holds a 2-1-1 advantage. The series began on 2001 in Macon, a 2-0 Blazers victory. After a five year hiatus, they squads played a home-and-home series, with UAB winning 1-0 in Birmingham in 2006 and a 0-0 draw in Macon the following year. The teams did not meet again until 2015 when Mercer handed UAB a 5-1 defeat in Macon.

The Bears have dropped their last two contests, including a 2-1 setback to Georgia State on Thursday night. Mercer's leading scorer is sophomore forward Aliah Kitchens (2g, 1a, 5p). Senior keeper Jordyn Ebert has started all five matches and has a GAA of 1.68.
