Women’s Golf Continues Fall Slate at Starmount Forest Fall Classic

BIRMINGHAM – Off to its best start in school history, the UAB women's golf team looks to keep its momentum rolling as the Blazers participate in the Starmount Forest Fall Classic hosted by UNC Greensboro this Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
The Blazers are 22-1-0 overall through their first two tournaments, which includes winning the USA Intercollegiate and taking second at the Pirate Collegiate Classic.
Second year head coach Ryan Ashburn will field a roster consisting of senior Tia Teiniketo, sophomores Chiara Vikkula and Caroline Waldrop, and freshmen Shelly Chen and Karlee Allen.
Along with impressive team results, UAB has had fantastic individual performances in its first two tournaments as well. Two weeks ago, Teiniketo established a new school record by shooting 204 (-12) in a winning effort in Mobile, while last week Vikkula shot a career-low -3 in just her second career tournament en route to a second-place finish.
Teiniketo and Vikkula will lead the Blazers against a field that consists of Delaware State, Longwood, North Carolina A&T, Presbyterian, Towson, Troy, UNC Ashville, UNC Greensboro, William & Mary and Winthrop.
