Women’s Golf Heads to North Carolina for Pirate Collegiate Classic

BIRMINGHAM – Coming off its best tournament in program history, the UAB women's golf team looks to keep that momentum going this Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 23-24, at the Pirate Collegiate Classic hosted by East Carolina University.
The tournament this week features nine team. Along with ECU and UAB, Cincinnati, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville, Radford, UNC Greensboro, William & Mary and Winthrop will also compete.
Greenville Country Club will be the site of the tournament. The course is a Par 72 which will play 6,132 yards.
Last week, the Blazers won the USA Intercollegiate to capture the program's first tournament title since 2007. UAB set the school record for lowest 18, 36 and 54-hole total in the process.
There was also a record-setting individual performance from senior Tia Teiniketo who carded a program record 204 (-12). Teiniketo shot under 70 in all three rounds (67-68-69) and set the record for lowest individual 18, 36, 54-hole total in school history. She is the reigning Conference USA Player of the Week.
Along with Teinikeo, the Blazers will field Chiara Vikkula, Kenna Hughes, Stephenie Fowler and Caroline Waldrop. Shelly Chen will participate as an individual.
