Women’s Golf Places 12th at 2019 Conference USA Championship

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The UAB women's golf team placed 12th at the 2019 Conference USA Championship at the Verandah Club in Fort Myers, Fla.
The Blazers were paced by junior Tia Teiniketo who tied for 15th overall and shot her low round of two under 70 in Wednesday's final round. Teiniketo started the tournament at five over, but rebounded nicely to finish 73 in the second round and 70 in the final round.
Kenna Hughes was the team leader through the first two rounds, but dropped off in the final round and finished tied for 38th overall at +11. The remaining UAB roster of Maria Donado, Lexie Dawson and Stephenie Fowler all tied for 55th overall at +26.
UTSA won the tournament by 12 strokes and finished at -10 overall, ahead of Charlotte (+2), Old Dominion (+3), North Texas (+13) and Middle Tennessee (+17). Individually, UTSA's Ana Gonzalez (-9) led wire-to-wire and won the tournament by five strokes.
The Blazers now turn their attention to the 2019-2020 season. UAB returns four players from this past season and have added five new players for this coming fall.
