Participate in IGNITE Challenge During UAB Giving Day

BIRMINGHAM - The University of Alabama at Birmingham is celebrating its 50th Anniversary by asking alumni, employees and friends of the university to make a gift during a fifty hour window starting at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, and ending at midnight of Thursday, April 18. Giving Day is a university wide celebration of philanthropy and a demonstration of what happens when Blazers come together to advance UAB.
UAB Athletics is participating in Giving Day by issuing an IGNITE challenge to alumni, employees and friends of UAB to make a gift and compete against one another and provide the most support for UAB student-athletes.
Blazer Boosters will provide updates throughout the competition as to which group is generating the most support, so be sure to follow @BlazerBoosters on Twitter or @blazer_boosters on Instagram for updates.
IGNITE is an initiative to increase the Blazer Boosters membership base, fortify a foundation for continued financial growth, and position UAB Athletics to compete at the highest level of college athletics. Investing in Blazer student-athletes by becoming a 2019 Blazer Boosters member will IGNITE the future success of the UAB Department of Athletics.
"If we want to be the best at everything we do, we must continue to grow the base of support for our student-athletes," said Director of Athletics Mark Ingram. "This IGNITE challenge on Giving Day is an engaging way to encourage the UAB community to invest in Blazer Athletics."
As an extension of this UAB Giving Day challenge, those who have made a gift are encouraged to post a video on their social media outlets challenging fellow UAB alumni, employees or friends of UAB to do the same. Director of Athletics, Mark Ingram, made the opening Giving Day challenge here. Use the hashtag #UABIgnite when sharing your personalized challenge on social media.
"We want to encourage you to make a gift in support of Blazer student-athletes and then inspire others to do the same during UAB Giving Day," said Senior Associate AD for External Affairs, Brad Hardekopf. "In order to be the best in Conference USA and leaders on a national stage, UAB Athletics needs to continue growing our base of support."
