Stephenie Fowler Named Conference USA Golfer of the Week

BIRMINGHAM - Coming off a career performance at the Bama Beach Bash in Gulf Shores, sophomore Stephenie Fowler has been named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week.
Fowler led the Blazers to a third-place team finish by placing third overall individually. The Tuscaloosa native started her tournament with an opening round 79, but then erupted to shoot even par 72 on Saturday, followed by a career-low 68 on Sunday to finish the tournament at +3 (219).
Along the way, Fowler picked up 12 birdies and her first career collegiate eagle which came on the ninth hole in Sunday's final round.
"I am really proud of Stephenie and it's nice to see all of her hard word paying off and coming together," head coach Ryan Ashburn said. "We hope to see her carry that momentum as we head towards postseason play."
The third-place finish was not only Fowler's best as a collegiate, but it was UAB's highest team finish of the season.
The Blazers are on the course again this coming Monday and Tuesday, April 1-2, at the Memphis Intercollegiate. The Memphis tournament is the final tune-up before the Conference USA Championship which is scheduled for April 15-17 in Fort Myers, Fla.
