Blazers Close Road Trip in the Queen City

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The UAB women's basketball team closes its three game road trip on Saturday when it faces Charlotte at Halton Arena. Tipoff between the Blazers and 49ers is set for 3 p.m. CST on ESPN+.
UAB (19-4, 7-3 C-USA) is coming off a 69-61 victory at Old Dominion on Thursday. Miyah Barnes led a trip of Blazers in double figures with 16 points on a career high three made 3-point field goals. The junior has been most beneficial this season sharing the basketball, ranking first in Conference USA in assists (117) and assists per game (5.1).
The Blazers rank second in C-USA in points per game (73.7) and third in fewest points allowed per game (57.1) to boast a league leading +16.6 scoring margin. Rachael Childress headlines four Blazers averaging double figuring scoring as the junior leads the team with 13.8 points per contest. Additionally, Childress ranks first in 3-point field goals per game (3.3) and made 3-pointers (77) and fifth in 3-point field goal percentage (39.9).
Charlotte (12-11, 4-7) enters Saturday's contest in the midst of a three game losing skid, including a 62-55 loss to Middle Tennessee on Thursday night. The 49ers rank ninth in C-USA in points per game (62.5), while allowing the sixth most points (62.7).
Jade Phillips leads the Charlotte offense, averaging 11.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Mariah Linney also averaged 11.6 points per contest, knocking down a team high 45 triples.
UAB and Charlotte are meeting for the 33rd time in program history on Saturday with the series knotted at 16 each. The Blazers are 6-7 in the Queen City, while Norton is 3-2 all-time against Charlotte and 2-0 on the road.
