Blazers Trek to Statesboro for Final Regular Season Match

BIRMINGHAM β The UAB rifle team is set to close its 2018-19 regular season slate on Saturday when it travels to Statesboro for a dual match with Georgia Southern and Wofford.

"I am very excited to close the regular season," head coach Lori Goodwin said. "We have had a successful season so far and this will be a great test before the post season begins."

UAB is coming off of a perfect 2-0 weekend in Martin, Tenn., as it tallied wins over UT-Martin and North Georgia. Jordan Blakenship became the first Blazer other than Michael Dietz to take home individual honors and she finished first overall against UT-Martin with a 568 in Smallbore and a 580 in Air for a 1148 aggregate total.

Georgia Southern enters the final weekend of the regular season with a 10-12, but went a perfect 3-0 in Charleston, S.C, last weekend, recording wins over VMI, VMI W and The Citadel W.

Wofford is the lone team in the dual match to have competed last weekend as it fell 4457-4546 to North Georgia. The Terriers are 0-4 this season in shoulder-to-shoulder matches.
