UAB Completes SoCon Play Unbeaten

STATESBORO, Ga. - The UAB rifle team claimed wrapped up SoCon play with a pair of victories over Georgia Southern and Wofford on Saturday in Statesboro.
The wins competed a perfect SoCon slate for the 2018-19 as the Blazers went unbeaten in league play.
"I'm very proud of our team's performance this weekend," head coach Lori Goodwin said. "We took a step forward and look to perform well in post-season play."
The Blazers finished with an aggregate total of 4555, while Georgia Southern finished with 4514 and Wofford completed the match with 4428.
Freshman Michael Dietz took home first place in Smallbore competition, recording a score of 571, and finished third in Air Rifle with 579. Dietz ranked second in Aggregate total, completing the match with 1150.
Fellow Blazer Sophia Flores took home third-place honors in Smallbore competition, firing a 567.
The Green and Gold will return to the range on Feb. 16 in Charleston, S.C. for NCAA qualifying.
