UAB Volleyball Announces Spring Schedule

BIRMINGHAM – Head coach Amy Pauly and the UAB volleyball team has announced its 2019 spring schedule. The slate features four home matches, a trip to Tuscaloosa and sees the team participating in the Southeastern College Spring Bash in Hoover, Ala.
"This spring we have been focused on fine tuning our skills, specifically in passing and with our attackers' arm swings," Pauly said. "I love spring competition because it allows us to play without having the sole focus be on a win or a loss. We get the opportunity to slow the game down, give our team specific feedback and really hone in on creating a better volleyball player. Last season I thought we gained some momentum in accepting challenges and taking risks at the end of sets and I think the teams we play this spring will continue to push us in doing that. We've put together a spring schedule that includes conference champions and SEC and ACC opponents. Our team has no choice but to go into every match with a battle mentality and give it their all in order to come out feeling successful."
The Blazers will play one home match in Wallace Gymnasium with the three remaining home matches taking place at Bartow Arena. All home matches are free and open to the public. The complete spring schedule can be viewed below. All times are in Central and are subject to change.
2019 UAB Volleyball Spring Schedule
Thursday, March 7 – Samford (Birmingham, Ala. // Wallace Gymnasium)
Thursday, March 21 – at Alabama (Tuscaloosa, Ala. // 7:30 p.m.)
Saturday, March 30 – Southeastern College Spring Bash (Hoover, Ala. // Finley Center // 11 a.m.)
Saturday, April 13 – Alabama State, South Alabama and Alabama-Huntsville (Birmingham, Ala. // Bartow Arena // 10 a.m.)
UAB opens the spring with a home match against cross-town rival Samford in Wallace Gymnasium. First serve against the Bulldogs will be announced at a later time.
Two weeks later, the Green and Gold travel 45 minutes down the road to Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama. First serve against the Tide on Thursday, March 21 is set for 7:30 p.m.
On March 30, the Blazers will participate in the Southeastern College Spring Bash at the Finley Center in Hoover, Ala. The tournament begins at 11 a.m. with UAB's opponents to be announced.
The final day of spring competition sees UAB face off with three in-state opponents on Saturday, April 13. Alabama State, South Alabama and Alabama-Huntsville all journey to Bartow Arena to take on the Blazers with the matches beginning at 10 a.m.
