Rifle Stays Undefeated in Conference with Performance at VMI

BIRMINGHAM - The defending Southern Conference champion UAB rifle team remained undefeated in league play with two conference wins at VMI on Saturday.
"I am really happy about how we shot today," head coach Lori Goodwin said. "It was great to get a couple of conference wins and we look forward to our next match."
UAB (9-1, 5-0 SoCon) claimed first with an aggregate score of 4547, while the VMI mixed squad posted an aggregate score of 4500 and the Keydet women finished third with an 4363 aggregate total.
The Blazers also posted the highest scores in smallbore (2237) and air rifle (2310), while the VMI mixed team finished second in both categories.
Sophia Flores continued to shoot well in Lexington, claiming the title of top individual with an aggregate score of 1144, her second highest score of the year. Flores also finished first in smallbore with a 566 and second in air rifle with a 578.
Freshman Amy Kohan posted the highest air rifle score with a 585 and also claimed her place in second-overall with an aggregate score of 1142. Jordan Blankenship continued her hot shooting with an aggregate total of 1130, good for fourth overall. Blankenship also completed the match in second in smallbore, shooting 562.
Zoe Lum wrapped up Blazers in the top-five, placing fifth in air rifle and posting a score of 574, while Lilly Vonderau and Hayden Hayes finished sixth and seventh in the category, shooting 573 and 571, respectively.
