Rifle Wraps Up 2019 With Performance at Gamecock Invitational

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB rifle team competed in its final competition of the 2019 calendar year on Sunday, finishing fifth at the Gamecock Invitational in Jacksonville, Ala.
"I am proud of the way that our 2019 went overall," head coach Lori Goodwin said. "We determined, though, to come back from the break and do better."
UAB (9-5, 5-0 SoCon) completed the match with an aggregate score of 4541, shooting 2257 in smallbore and 2284 in air rifle. The Blazers finished behind Memphis (4679), Ole Miss (4663), Murray State (4644) and host school Jacksonville State (4635).
Zoe Lum paced the Green and Gold in overall aggregate score, shooting 1149, and tied for first on the squad with Sophia Flores in smallbore with a score of 573. Senior Captain Lilly Vonderau headlined for UAB in air rifle, posting a score of 579.

The Blazers return to the range on Jan. 24 at Murray State against a loaded field, which includes Kentucky, Murray State, NC State, North Georgia, UT-Martin, Memphis and Jacksonville State.
