DALLAS – A pair of UAB women's soccer players were recognized for their outstanding efforts in the classroom as Megan Hudgens and Natalie Presedo earned spots on Conference USA's All-Academic Teams, the league office announced on Monday.
Hudgens earned First Team honors for the second time in her career, while Presedo receives her first conference academic recognition after garnering a spot on the Second Team. UAB has now had at least two student-athletes recognized with All-Academic honors in three consecutive years.
"What a great honor for both of these players in regards to making the Conference USA All-Academic teams," said head coach Erica Demers. "Both Megan and Natalie have thrived in the classroom all of their years at UAB and both take much pride in their work and also pushing their teammates to do the same."
Hudgens has a GPA of 3.96 majoring in finance. She is a member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and has earned the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal. The senior forward finished the season as the Blazers' leading scorer with four goals and nine points. She had the game-winning goal at George Southern and set up the only goal in UAB's 1-0 victory over then-first place North Texas.
Presedo has a 3.908 GPA majoring biology and anthropology. A member of UAB's backline, the senior helped UAB record seven shutouts after starting 15 matches this season. Along with Hudgens, she also had an assist in the Blazers' victory over then-first place the Mean Green. She is also a member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and has earned the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal.
Although the women's soccer season has concluded, the 2019-20 Gold Card for $65 is still available. The Gold Card is an exclusive offer that grants you admission into all UAB men's soccer, volleyball, women's basketball, softball and baseball events for the upcoming academic year.
