Men’s Golf Moves into Sixth at White Sands Intercollegiate

NASSAU, Bahamas– The UAB men's golf team moved up two places in the second round of the White Sands Intercollegiate on Saturday and enters the final round of the tournament tied for sixth place.
UAB followed up yesterday 285 (-3) by shooting 282 (-6) on Saturday and is nine under for the tournament. The Blazers are 10 shots off the team lead that is held by Houston (-19), and is leading Florida State (-13), No. 1 Wake Forest (-12), Miami (OH) (-11), and No. 2 SMU (-10) who round out the top five.
Freshman Khavish Varadan shot a team low -4 in the second round and jumped up 39 spots into a tie for 22nd place. He is -2 overall for the tournament entering the final 18 holes. Varadan had seven birdies in the round, including a span of birding five of six holes on the front nine.
Both Murray Naysmith and Ben Reichert shot -1 on Saturday. Naysmith is now -3 overall and is tied for 17th, while Reichert is even par and in a tie for 35th. Naysmith birdied five-consecutive holes from 10-14 to help out his round.
William Walker III was even par in the second round and now sits at -2 for the tournament. He is tied with Varadan for 22nd. Alfix Fox was +4 today and is tied for 63rd at +4.
