UAB Rifle Takes on Wofford on Saturday

BIRMINGHAM - The defending Southern Conference champion UAB rifle team travels to Spartanburg, S.C. on Saturday as it faces Wofford in the season's fourth match.
"I am confident and think our team is ready for this weekend's match at Wofford," head coach Lori Goodwin said. "Our mindset is good and we look forward to Saturday."
UAB has competed against Wofford once already this season, as it defeated the Terriers in the season-opening match at Georgia Southern. The Blazers racked up an aggregate score of 4550, while Wofford posted an aggregate score of 4449.
Sophomore Sophia Flores continues to lead the Green and Gold in all three categories, with average scores of 561.667, 576.667 and 1138.334 in smallbore, air rifle and aggregate, respectively. Junior Jordan Blankenship is coming off her best performance of the year thus far, as she led UAB in all three phases last Saturday at North Georgia, scoring 559 in smallbore and 579 in air rifle for an aggregate total of 1138.
The Blazers enter the match with a 6-1 record on the season, with their only blemish coming against North Georgia last weekend. Wofford comes into the match with a 1-4 record.
Following this weekend, the Blazers return to action on Nov. 9 as they head to Arlington, Va. to take on VMI.
