Women’s Basketball Hosts Miles College in First Exhibition of 2019-20 Season

BIRMINGHAM- UAB women's basketball kicks of the 2019-20 season Tuesday night at 6 p.m. in an exhibition game against Miles College at Bartow Arena.
"We are excited to play Miles at home tomorrow night after weeks of playing ourselves in practice," said head coach Randy Norton. "We have had a very productive preseason up to this point and this will be another opportunity for us to get better as a team."
UAB returns four starters and seven letter winners and add four newcomers after a 26-win season in 2018-19 in which the Blazers we runners up in Conference USA.
Seniors Rachael Childress and Miyah Barnes were selected to the C-USA Preseason Team. Childress enters the season as the NCAA active leader in career three pointers made and Barnes is one of 20 in the nation named to the Nancy Lieberman Watch List for the top point guard in the country.
Forward Katelynn Thomas led C-USA in field goal percentage a season ago after shooting 62% from the field. Meanwhile, Angela Vendrell has racked up 84 blocks in the last two seasons for the Blazers and is moving her way up the UAB record books.
Seniors Trista Magee and Imani Johnson also return providing the Blazers with energy and valuable minutes off the bench.
Miles College returns three starters and eight lettermen as well as adding 10 newcomers to the roster this season.
The Green and Gold hosted Miles in an exhibition game last season which the Blazers won 95-53. UAB is a perfect 3-0 all-time against Miles.
