Rifle Travels to Dahlonega for Season’s Third Match

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB rifle team returns to the range on Saturday as it travels to Dahlonega, Ga. for its third match of the season.

"I'm excited for Saturday," head coach Lori Goodwin said. "It's going to be a fun match and I am ready to see how the team performs."

Saturday's match features UAB and Georgia Southern along with host school and conference leader North Georgia. The Blazers have faced off against Georgia Southern in every match this season.

UAB ranks in the top-20 nationally in smallbore, air rifle and aggregate scores after finishing 11^th in last year's NCAA Team Standings.

Sophomore Sophia Flores leads the Blazers so far this season, placing first overall at both Georgia Southern and The Citadel.

Winners of their first two matches, the Blazers boast an average aggregate score of 4553, while averaging 2250 in smallbore and 2303 in air rifle.

Following this weekend, UAB will be back in action on Nov. 2 as it heads to Spartanburg, S.C. to take on Wofford.
