UAB Hosts South Carolina for Bark at the Park Night

BIRMINGHAM- UAB will host South Carolina in a Conference USA matchup Saturday night at 7 p.m. for the fourth annual Bark at the Park event.

UAB (1-8-1, 0-3-1) looks for its first C-USA win of the season to remain in contention for the C-USA tournament. The Blazers scored their first goal in three games Tuesday night at Memphis when junior Krenar Krasniqi netted a penalty kick in the second half of action.Β

South Carolina (5-5-1, 0-3-0) are also looking for a C-USA win sitting just below the Blazers at seventh in the conference standings. The Gamecocks are led by senior Tucker Monheimer and freshman Brian Banahan who each have four goals and one assist on the season.Β

"This game is massive for both teams," said head coach Jeff Kinney. "As it sits right now, both teams are fighting for their spots in the conference tournament as well as finding form within the season. South Carolina is always a tough opponent; we are looking forward to the challenge."

South Carolina leads the overall series 14-5-1 taking the last five matchups against UAB. The last time the Blazers defeated the Gamecocks was in October of 2014 when UAB took down South Carolina in Columbia by a score of 1-0.Β

Fans are encouraged to bring their pups to the field or adopt one there as the Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter will have a flash adoption event where adoption fees are just $25. There will be a raffle to win prizes for your dog and a halftime event featuring Flying Houndz Frizbee Trick Dog Show.

"As a huge fan of dogs, myself, Bark in the Park is a great event that promotes a fun family environment for our fans," added Kinney. "I have two rescues at home and look forward to seeing all the pups and their owners in attendance on such an important night for our soccer team."
