Blazers Complete Undefeated Weekend

MARTIN, Tenn. – The UAB rifle team went a perfect 2-0 last weekend as it defeated North Georgia and UT-Martin in a pair of shoulder to shoulder matches in Martin, Tenn.
The Blazers defeated the Nighthawks of North Georgia 4603-4599 on Friday, followed by a 4538-4487 over the Skyhawks of UT-Martin on Saturday.
"I am very proud of our performances over the weekend," head coach Lori Goodwin said. "To record a pair of wins over two very good teams was a good way to return to competition after our winter break."
Jordan Blankenship took home individuals honors in the match against UT-Martin as she fired a 568 Smallbore score and a 580 in Air for a 1148 aggregate total, becoming the first shooter other than Michael Dietz to lead the Blazers in a match this season. For the weekend the freshman fired a 1149.50 aggregate total over two matches.
Dietz continued his strong freshman campaign as he finished second overall against the Skyhawks, firing a 561 in Smallbore and a 583 in Air for a 1144 aggregate total. He finished the weekend with a 1143.5 aggregate total.
The Blazers return to the range for their last regular season match of the season on Feb. 9 at Georgia Southern. Competition is set to begin at 7 a.m. CST.
