BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – With the 2018-19 basketball season approximately two months away, the UAB Department of Athletics has announced significant upgrades and enhancements to the fan experience within Bartow Arena.
Included in the improvements are upgrades to Bartow Arena concessions, new handrails around the arena, a renovation to the Champion Club and the addition of a Family Four Pack season ticket option.
"We pride ourselves in being an affordable and accessible entertainment option in Birmingham," UAB Director of Athletics Mark Ingram said. "We want to provide the best experience possible for our fans and these improvements are aimed at doing exactly that leading into the upcoming seasons."
In an effort to create a safer atmosphere for fans viewing games, handrails have been installed in each aisle to allow easy access to every row within the arena.
Fans will also see significant changes to Bartow Arena's concessions stands, including fan-friendly pricing and self-serve drink stations. Prices on nearly every item on the menu will be reduced, while self-serve, refillable drink stations are being installed to help streamline the ordering processes and keep lines moving efficiently.
"Our fans are the reason Bartow Arena is one of the most electric atmospheres in college basketball, so continuing to enhance the gameday experience for them is crucial," men's basketball head coach Robert Ehsan said. "These new changes will make games more affordable and enjoyable, so I am thrilled that we were able to get them accomplished. We cannot wait to have Blazer nation back together inside Bartow Arena in November."
After last year's upgrades and improvements to the Green and Gold Room, the Champion Club has also received a facelift leading into the 2018-19 season. Included in the renovations are new carpet, new lighting, new paint, improved furniture and the addition of flat screen televisions.
Families also have an affordable option to attend games this year with the new Family Four Pack. For only $400, families can purchase four season tickets in select upper level sections.
"As we continue to build a championship culture, it is vital that we play in first-class facilities," women's basketball head coach Randy Norton said. "Bartow Arena is an amazing place to play and I am excited for our fans to be able to enjoy the new amenities as they continue to support our team."
Individual season tickets for the 2018-19 UAB men's basketball campaign are on sale now and start as low as $105 in Blaze's Corner. Men's Basketball priority seating is also available and can be requested through Blazer Boosters at (205) 996-9969.
Fans can receive access to every women's basketball game for one low rate by purchasing a 2018-19 Gold Card. A Gold Card is $65 and also includes access to all home women's soccer, men's soccer, volleyball, baseball and softball games in addition to women's basketball contests.
