Dietz and Flores Lead UAB at Wofford

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – A first and second place respective individual finish by Michael Dietz and Sophia guided the UAB rifle team in its match at Wofford on Saturday.
Dietz took home individual honors after he fired a 570-small bore score and a 584 air rifle for a 1,154 total. Flores finished one-spot behind her teammate after firing a school-record 571 in the small bore and a 564 in the air rifle competition for a 1,135 total.
"I am very proud of how everyone did today," head coach Lori Goodwin said. "It was definitely a team effort and it showed. Scores went up from last week and I expect them to continue to climb this season."
Zoe Lum took home third place honors with a 560-small bore score and a 570 in air rifle for a 1,130 total, while Ben Vogrin rounded out the Blazers in the top-five as he finished fourth overall with a 552 in small bore and a 575 score in air rifle for a 1,127 total.
Overall, the Blazers fired a 2,253-team score in the small bore competition and a 2,299 in the air rifle for a 4,552 aggregate total.
UAB returns to competition on Friday, Oct. 5 when it travels to Oxford, Miss., for a dual match against Murray State and Georgia Southern.
