Blazers Place Second in Oxford

OXFORD, Miss. – Paced by Michael Dietz's fourth-place finish, the UAB rifle team finished second in the three-team field in Oxford over the weekend.
Dietz set the school record in both Smallbore and Air Rifle, shooting a 583 and 592, respectively, score for a 1,175 aggregate total.
"I am incredibly proud of the team's performance this week," head coach Lori Goodwin said. "We will try and keep the momentum going into this next weekend."
Zoe Lum finished 16th overall in the Smallbore standings, shooting a 565 before finishing 13th in the Air Rifle competition with a 581 score for a 1,146 aggregate total.
Sophia Flores continued her strong season, placing third overall on the Blazers' squad with a 564 in Smallbore and a 578 in the Air competition.
Murray State took home the team honors with a 2,332 Smallbore total and a 2,362 in Air Rifle for a 4,694 total. Georgia Southern finished third with a 4,530 aggregate score.
The Blazers return to the range on Saturday, Oct. 13, with a match at The Citadel. Competition in Charleston, S.C., is slated to begin at 7 a.m. CST.
