UAB Set for Tri-Match in Oxford

BIRMINGHAM – Coming off a win at Wofford last weekend, the UAB rifle team returns to competition on Friday with a tri-match against Murray State and Georgia Southern in Oxford, Miss.
UAB picked up its first win of the season in Spartanburg last weekend with a 4,552 – 4,379 win over Wofford. The Blazers took home the top four individual slots as well as Michael Dietz led the competiton with a first place finish.
Dietz fired a 570 small bore score and a 584 air rifle mark for a 1,154 aggregate total to edge teammate Sophia Flores. Flores, the second place finisher, recorded a school record 571 score in small bore and a 564 score in air rifle for a 1,135 aggregate total.
Murray State enters the weekend with a perfect 1-0 record on the season as the Racers defeated UT-Martin 4,691-4,528 last Sunday at home.
Georgia Southern is 0-2 on the season as it was swept by No. 20 North Georgia and No. 17 Morehead State in a dual match in Dahlonega, Ga., last weekend.
