CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Juliana Sebastian and Sydney Snodgrass have been named Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Requirements for this prestigious award are some of the most stringent in collegiate athletics as student-athletes must have a minimum GPA of 3.50. A total of 1,011 golfers earned this award in 2017-18.
"I am thrilled for Juliana and Sydney," Sport Administrator Matt Wildt said. " These two were great ambassadors for our university while they were here and I can't wait to see what they accomplish in the future."
Snodgrass graduated from UAB in April with a degree in accounting. She was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team in both her junior and senior seasons, becoming the first two-time member of the team in program history. Additionally, she earned the league's Academic Medal and was named to the Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll in all four seasons.
On the course, she was one of three players to compete in all 10 events for UAB this past season recording five top-30 finishes. In 2017, she took home All-Tournament Honors at the Conference USA Championships after a 69 in the final round propelled her to a fourth-place finish.
Sebastian earned her undergraduate degree in exercise science in April. The Columbia, S.C., native was a three-time recipient of the league's Academic Medal and was placed on the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll on three occasions. In her senior year, she completed an internship with the UAB Sports Nutrition Department.
On the course, Sebastian competed in nine team events as a senior. She posted a career-low 223 (+7) at the USA Intercollegiate and opened the season with a tied for 20th finish. She wrapped up her career having competed in 98 events and carried a 79.4 stroke average.
Snodgrass and Sebastian are the first Blazers to be named to the WGCA All-American team in program history.
