Donado Named Third-Team All-Conference

IRVING, Texas – Coming off of a successful junior campaign, Maria Donado of the UAB women's golf team has been named Third-Team All-Conference USA, as announced by the league office on Friday.
This award is voted on by C-USA coaches and is based on play for the 2017-18 season.
"Maria is deserving of this award," head coach Kim Wilcox said. "She has worked tirelessly to improve her performance. She has aligned herself to be a leader on the team based on her performance and work ethic."
Donado carried a 75.5 stroke average over 30 rounds played as she was one of just three players to start in all 10 tournaments. The Colombia native was the Blazers' leader in the clubhouse in eight events en route to earning three top-10 finishes and six top-20.
The junior earned All-Tournament honors at the USA Intercollegiate as she finished tied for third and set the program record for lowest 54-hole score with a 213 (-3). Additionally, she was tabbed C-USA Golfer of the Week on March 21 after finishing 14th at the Bama Beach Bash that included a 73 (+1) in the final round.
Donado's honor marks the second consecutive season that UAB has placed a member on the All-Conference Team as Sydney Snodgrass earned third-team honors a year ago. Donado also becomes the 11th UAB golfer to be named to an All-Conference Team as is the fourth player to earn it under Wilcox's tenure – Snodgrass (2016-17), Janey Deimlin (2004-05) and Brooke Mangan (2002-03, 2003-04, 2004-05).
