UAB Posts Three Top-10 Finishes on Day Two of the Duke Invitational

DURHAM, N.C. β The UAB track and field team had another solid day at the Duke Invitational as it posted three top-10 performances and three more personal bests.

Shelbi White finished third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.78 seconds, while Taylor Jones placed sixth, running a time of 11.98 seconds. Ali Cichos posted a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 14.35 seconds.

- Cichos posted a new PR in the javelin throw, coming in at a distance of 32.58 meters.
- Brittney Floyd also set a personal best in the javelin with a throw of 33.39 meters.
- Ebony Tolliver was the third Blazer to set a PR on Saturday with a time of 25.04 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
- On the weekend, UAB athletes set eight new PRs.

"We had a very good weekend and the weather was beautiful, which hasn't been the case much of the season," Thomas said. "As a result, our athletes came out and had their best performances of the year. Mo has been jumping very consistent and did again today. Ali and Brittany threw some javelin PRs, which is good to get ready for their C-USA Heptathlon in a few weeks. Ali hurdled well in the final of the 100-meter hurdles, while Shelbi and Taylor got good 100-meter final experience. Ebony had a good weekend getting PRs in the 400 and 200 and continues to run well for us. The 4x1 raced well and now we know what we need to do to run our best at conference. The team is starting to hit their stride at the right time of the year. I'm proud of them. Now they need to do their best on their finals next week and get ready for the conference championships."
