BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Coming off its best team finish of the season, the UAB men's golf team looks to carry that momentum into the Conference USA Championship this Week, April 22-25, at Texarkana Country Club in Arkansas.
The tournament features 54 holes with 18 set for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The top four teams after 54 holes will enter match play on Wednesday to decide a team champion.
Led by reigning Conference USA Golfer of the Week William Walker III, the Blazers collectively shot -17 in their last outing at the Stitch Invitational in North Carolina. Walker III finished seven under for the tournament and in 11th place. All five of UAB's golfers finished in the top 30.
In the final round of the Stitch, UAB shot its lowest team round since 2015 as they collectively carded a -13 overall.
Along with Walker III, the Blazer lineup this week consists of senior R.J. Keur, sophomore Murray Naysmith, junior John Hayden and freshman Nick Robillard.
Keur enters his postseason run ranked the No. 123 player in the country and has been at the top of UAB's lineup all season with Walker III. He will look to improve upon his 23rd place finish from a year ago at C-USA.
The Blazers are ranked 83rd nationally, which is the fourth highest in C-USA behind Middle Tennessee (73), UTSA (80) and Rice (83).
"We are looking forward to competing for the conference championship," head coach Mike Wilson said. "This team always puts forth great effort and if we play well we should have a chance to win."
