BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men's tennis team will kick off a three-match road swing in the Sunshine State on Sunday when the Blazers make their way to Boca Raton to take on Conference USA-foe Florida Atlantic at noon (CST).
The Blazers (7-5, 0-1) are currently riding a three-game winning streak after winning two weekend home matches to extend its home-winning streak to five games, while the Green and Gold are seeking their first C-USA win of the season.
Sophomore Tim Dollman continues to be UAB's top threat on Court 1, pushing his record to 9-1 in singles play, one win shy of matching his win total in singles action from his record-setting freshman season a year ago. He is also 7-3 in doubles with partner Stefan Gonzalez.
Tom el Safadi is also having a standout year, posting a 5-1 mark in singles play with three of those wins coming in the six spot and two at the five hole. Giovani Pasini has been strong as well, earning five singles victories on the year with three wins in the five spot.
UAB's most dominant doubles attack has come from Anru Fourie and Kenton Parton, who have posted an 8-3 record on the year, including a 7-1 mark on Court 3. The team as a whole has been solid in doubles play, winning 22 of its 34 doubles matches played.
In the team's last match, the Blazers were forced to come from behind after dropping the doubles point to claim a thrilling 4-3 win over Lipscomb. Dollman, Fourie, Pasini and el Safadi all claimed singles victories in the win.
The Blazers and the Owls will be meeting for the first time since last season, when FAU emerged with a 4-1 win in Birmingham.
