Blazers Host Rice at Bartow Arena on Alumni Night

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men's basketball team plays its final home game in the month of February on Saturday at 7 p.m. when the Blazers welcome Rice to Bartow Arena on Alumni Night.
Fans can purchase upper level tickets online for $8 by using the promo code LOVEUAB.
UAB (15-10, 6-6) is 11-3 at home this season and is led by the 18.2 points and 9.3 rebounds per game from senior forward Chris Cokley. Cokley, who ranks sixth in Conference USA in scoring and second in rebounding, leads the league with 11 double-doubles and ranks 21st in the NCAA.
Freshman Zack Bryant adds 13.0 points per game and needs 24 more points to set a single-season school record for points in a season by a freshman. Sophomore Nate Darling chips in with 9.8 points per game and has made a team-best 41 three-pointers.
Senior William Lee averages 9.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game and is just 21 rejections shy of 300 for his career.
Rice (5-19, 2-9) dropped its third straight game following its 94-75 setback at Middle Tennessee on Thursday. The Owls are 1-10 on the road this season and sit in 13th place in the league standings.
Junior guard Connor Cashaw leads Rice with 16.0 points and 6.8 rebounds per game and has made a team-high 42 three-pointers. Fellow guard Ako Adams is second on the team with 10.1 points per game to go along with a team-best 78 assists.
UAB and Rice will meet on the hardwood for the 14th time in school history when the two teams battle on Saturday. The Blazers own a 12-1 lead and have won each of the last two games in the all-time series that dates back to the 1980-81 season. In the most recent match-up, UAB defeated Rice 88-81 last season in overtime behind 20 points, four rebounds and one block from William Lee. The Blazers are 6-0 all-time against Rice in Birmingham and have won by an average of 18.0 points per game.
