BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's basketball team begins a five-game home stand on Tuesday afternoon when the Blazers host Alcorn State inside Bartow Arena. Tip is set for 3 p.m.
The Blazers (6-4) are 4-0 at Bartow Arena and look to keep that momentum going with this home stretch. Since the start of the 2015-16 season, UAB is 46-8 inside Bartow Arena.
UAB is coming off a heart-breaking 75-71 overtime loss to No. 8 Auburn on Saturday night in front of 15,856 fans at Legacy Arena in downtown Birmingham. Senior guard Jalen Perry netted a team and career-high 18 points and led four players in double figures.
Rebounding has been a key for the Blazers, and despite losing the battle on the glass to the Tigers (40-39), UAB has out-rebounded eight of 10 opponents this season. Their +6.9 rebounding margin ranks them 32nd nationally.
Zack Bryant continues to pace UAB in scoring at 12.9 ppg. Bryant is coming off back-to-back double-digit scoring performances and has six this season and 31 for this career.
Alcorn State (4-6) has four players who average double figures, led by Maurice Howard at 14.4 points per game. Howard shoots nearly 40 percent from long range and has 37 made 3-pointers on the season.
A reminder that the game has been moved to 3 p.m. due to UAB football's bowl game that evening. Fans can watch the basketball game on CUSA.tv and can click here to purchase tickets.
