UAB Continues 2018-19 Slate at VMI

BIRMINGHAM – The No. 18 UAB rifle team returns to the range this weekend when it travels to Lexington, Va., to compete at VMI. The match is set to begin at 7 a.m. CST.
Saturday marks another Southern Conference match for the Blazers as they sit in a tie for first place in the league with their win over The Citadel earlier in the season.
"I am excited to shoot at VMI this weekend," head coach Lori Goodwin said. "This team has been working very hard since shooting at North Georgia and I believe that we are ready for this weekend."
Michael Dietz leads UAB this season with a 1,156.2 aggregate total through five matches. The freshman was named the SoCon's October Smallbore Shooter of the Month as he fired a 572.0 Smallbore average in three matches last month.
VMI is in a tie for seventh place in the SoCon standings as it lost its lone conference match to North Georgia on Oct. 20. The Keydets are coming off a 4,694 – 4,492 loss to Air Force last weekend.
