Dietz Fires UAB Over VMI

LEXINGTON, Va. – A first place individual finish from Michael Dietz lifted the No. 18 UAB rifle team to a 4,551 – 4,491 win over VMI on Saturday.
Dietz fired a 571 in Smallbore and a 578 in Air Rifle for a 1,149 aggregate total to take home the title. The freshman has led UAB in all six of its matches this season.
"I am very proud of how everyone shot today," head coach Lori Goodwin said.
Zoe Lum finished third overall as she shot a 558 in the Smallbore competition and a 577 in Air Rifle for a 1,135 aggregate total. Jordan Blankenship rounded out the Blazers in the top five as she fired a 559 in Smallbore and a 575 in Air Rifle to finish fourth overall with a 1,134 aggregate score.
John Pitman led the Keydettes with a second place finish with a 565 Smallbore score and a 575 in Air for a 1,140 aggregate total.
UAB returns to the range when it makes the short trip east on I-20 to Jacksonville State to face the Gamecocks on Sunday, Nov. 18.
